New information on the Library Catalogue Screen

I have been working on providing links to resources that will help you with your studies. The Inquiry Process section offers guides to research skills, and evaluating information and websites. There is also one named Academic Honesty which covers plagiarism and Creative Commons. These sections are still a work in progress and I recommend you take a look by going to Library Catalogue

There are also two very good videos that provide insight into metaphors and how to write up an essay on a piece of literature. I have posted them here for you to view, but you can always refer to them on the online library catalogue which can be located on Ultranet under Special Interest.

Did you find the videos useful? Are the links to the guides on research helpful? What else would you like to see on the library website page?

Wool by Hugh Howey

Described as a suspense-filled post apocalyptic thriller; a cross between The Road and The Hunger Games.

In a ruined and hostile landscape, in a future few have been unlucky enough to survive, a community exists in a giant underground silo.

Inside, men and women live an enclosed life full of rules and regulations, of secrets and lies.

To live, you must follow the rules. But some don't. These are the dangerous ones; these are the people who dare to hope and dream, and who infect others with their optimism.

Their punishment is simple and deadly. They are allowed outside.

Jules is one of these people. She may well be the last. (Back cover)

Welcome back

I hope you all enjoyed the school holidays. New books will arrive soon and I will feature them once they are ready to issue. Please offer suggestions for books that you would like the library to add to the collection.
Until then, enjoy the movie trailer to If I Stay, written by Gayle Forman. The movie is due for release soon, the library has a copy of the book which is currently out at the moment but you could reserve it.

The story line goes like this: In a coma following a car accident that killed her parents and brother, seventeen-year-old Mia weighs whether to live with her grief or join her family in death.

If I should have a daughter...

The first video is by Sarah Kay, a creative and inspirational woman. She is well-known for her spoken word poetry, Hands is the name of the poem in the second video.

The first video is titled If I had a daughter..  which TED Talks describes as 'the story of her metamorphosis -- from a wide-eyed teenager soaking in verse at New York's Bowery Poetry Club to a teacher connecting kids with the power of self-expression through Project V.O.I.C.E'
