175th Anniversary of the signing of Waitangi Day

"2015 is the 175th anniversary of the signing of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi/The Treaty of Waitangi. The Treaty was signed at Waitangi on 6 February 1840 and in over 50 other occasions around the country. the anniversaries of these signings will be the focus of commemorative activities throughout the year." The right hand side of this coin is also being used for the commemorative stamp.



Taamati Waaka Nene was a leading chief of Ngaa Puhi and an influential supporter of the Treaty. He was among the first to sign it.
